Luften gick ur mig i fredags.

On Friday it felt like I had been pushed to my limits. Max had an eye doctor appointment at the hospital, on a referral from the school nurse. By now we have "visited" all three of the hospitals in Gothenburg. He needs glasses full time.
In itself not a disaster at all, but in the context of everything we've been through this year I had no more energy to handle the news. Where will I find the strength to handle yet another thing? Why can't Max be left alone? Isn't it enough with his diabetes and a mum with cancer? We had just started to recover a bit from the beginning of the year (new blog readers: Max got diabetes type 1 in January 2010, a few weeks after my cancer diagnosis).
The final straw for Max came when he got stinging eye drops. He broke down like you wouldn't believe, all the pain from this year was represented in that break down.
He screamed and cried: "I don't want to do this any longer. I don't want to have diabetes, I don't want you to have cancer and I can't see!! Remove the drops from my eyes!!!"
Well, I don't blame him at all. I am equally as tired of all the hospitals and doctor's appointments. He calmed down after a while and once again I gathered all the fragments, listened to the doctor's instructions and found strength (don't ask me how) to move on. The doctor was amazing and my son, my true hero and fighter- in a matter of minutes his tremendous positive view on life returned. "Mum, wow, I am going to get glasses! I've always wanted to have glasses. How cool!"
And me, well, I have only one thing to say "Thanks, Harry Potter!"
